Friendly staff; clean rooms

As usual, La Quinta provided a clean, restful night's stay. This particular hotel has 3 floors of room...and MANY of them. However, parking is not convenient for all rooms. We arrived rather late, received a room on the first floor, but had to park in the furthest lot from our room....in the morning, that proved to be an uphill hike! The breakfast was quite good...fresh fruit, oatmeal, boiled eggs, yogurt (thanks for the proteins!) and 'freshly made' waffles. YUM! One problem: Gainesville is a popular destination for sporting events ..this is a LARGE hotel....and the breakfast room only had seating for 15-20 people. I would also recommend that they have more than one food-service station. If the waffle irons--2 of them--had been spaced across the room from each other...and if they had more than 2...it would have been less congested. Overall, the stay was quite nice. This critique is meant to convey recommendations to the hotel staff, not to discourage anyone from choosing this hotel. We will probably stay there again.

Problems started at check-in. Had to wait 15-20 minutes while a computer run was completed. Problems continued. The internet access did not work, just as in the first visit, until a 30 minute IT session was completed. Room key failed. Room was not cleaned, even after a call, although they came and traded towels. Breakfast buffet was a plus.

QUALITY OF ROOM / STAFF
08/27/2007Staff are great, for the money the room was not clean , the bath did not drain, and the bed you could fell the matress spring in your back they need ...
STAFF ARE GREAT, FOR THE MONEY THE ROOM WAS NOT CLEAN , THE BATH DID NOT DRAIN, AND THE BED YOU COULD FELL THE MATRESS SPRING IN YOUR BACK THEY NEED UP GRADE THE ROOM, FLOORS WERE DIRTY.

The hotel check in was easy and efficient. Watch for the hotels that allow pets. I didn't figure out what I was getting bit by until the last night of my stay. There were fleas in my bed and room. The room had been rented by a pet owner and had not been fumigated properly.

We expected a clean room with everything working properly. What we ended up with was dirty room (someone else's hairs all over the bathroom floor, a drippy tub faucet, a bathroom door that didn't close because it was partially off the hinges, and a room that smelled of something odd). We didn't complain that night since it was late but the next day we did and received a break in the price. At least that was something. It did, however, cause to rethink ever staying at another one of these hotels. I hope others have had better experiences than we did.
