The hotel backs up against the tenderloin, a rather notorious part of SF. You have to walk several blocks through a ""seedy"" part of town to get to the Financial District and other upscale locations. So take the train or the bus or the light rail, rather than walk, the stops are RIGHT there outside the hotel and it's not so bad during the day. I would not recommend the site to folks from the midwest who are easily shocked. The hotel was being renovated, so we got good rates. Parking (which we didn't need - is 25 dollars a day). The room could have been soundproofed better but we had a nice view. The room was clean - so clean in fact, we didn't realize we had (accidentally) been given a smoking room and the housekeeping staff did a good job. Some of the reception staff were friendlier than others but everyone was professional. The waitstaff in the dining room are sweeties. The bed was passable and they provided a lot of pillows. Furniture was in good shape and the free wireless was okay. My clothes were stolen out of laundry room facility. I left the room locked and returned to find it unlocked and my clothes gone (and the dryer was still hot!) Apparently, the lock was not working properly and they couldn't check the keycard records. I lost all but one outfit. While the staff was prompt in getting me in touch with a manager, and sympathetic to my situation, they really didn't go the extra mile - I would have at least liked to get the five bucks I spent on the laundry back and a free meal or two or free night stay would have been great.

Excellent hotel services from the moment we checked in the hotel receptionist was very helpful and friendly until we checked out. Very pleasant hotel staffs. The room was nice and very comfortable bed. You can't go wrong with the price either. High recommend...you will not be disappointed.

Excellent hotel services from the moment we checked in the hotel receptionist was very helpful and friendly until we checked out. Very pleasant hotel staffs. The room was nice and very comfortable bed. You can't go wrong with the price either. Highly recommended...you will not be disappointed.

My partner and I stayed here for three nights to celebrate his birthday. We took BART from SFO to the hotel (30 minutes and $5.35pp, much cheaper than a cab), the civic center stop is a half a block away. The outside of the hotel looked a bit old, but we were completely satisfied with the size and cleanliness of our room (14th floor king bed w/balcony). The location is great, just off of Market, so if you want to walk to Downtown, SOMA, or the Castro, the hills aren't too bad. Market st is a bit sketchy for a few blocks, but we didn't have any problems. Our only complaint was the internet service via the TV. Acess is $9.95 per day, but when we tried to use it we were kicked back to the TV menu. The front desk acknowledged that the internet service is an ongoing issue and will be resolved soon. They removed the charge from the bill without a hassle. We will definetly stay here again.
