The Hotel took no responsibility to make sure Hotel guests had proper parking. It took me over half an hour to find parking and I still was not sure my vehicle would not be towed. The same card key to your room was also used to operate the elevators. They did not work and hotel employees had to activate the elevators. Because of conventions, the hall ways were very noisy at 2:00a.m. Thirdly, many hotel guests were caring open beer cans onto elevators and into the lobby area. There was a Tattoo convention and a Hot Rod show going on at the same time at the Convention Center next door. I was not informed of this when the two night stay was booked.

I must say, the change over of this hotel from a Holiday Inn to a Marriot is a breath of fresh air. I have stayed at the property 2 times, once under the name of each brand. I have to say that not only is the atmosphere stylish and comfortable, but the friendly service is a welcome change as well. Some of the other reviews don't make sense. They are reviewing the Holiday Inn and not the Marriott. The Marriott did not open until October or November of 2008 so the March of 2008 and 2007 reviews are no where close to the level of service found at this property currently. This was a great place to relax while visiting my daughter and son-in-law for Christmas 2008. I will definatley stay here again.

This is a great hotel in Bakersfield. This is a new remodel and a change from Holiday Inn to a new Marriott. I heard Marriott hotels are very nice. Now I see why people say that. Wow! It reminded me of a fancy resort. The bar lounge was like a huge living room with flat screen TVs everywhere and fireplaces and huge high back chairs. I spent too much time down stairs meeting new people and ordering drinks. The Bakersfield Christmas Parade was that night and there was also a Young Entrepreneurs Conference being held. The place was a bit of a mad house with people everywhere. There were a lot of kids running around. Back in my room it was quite though and the room was beautiful and the bed was great, all brand new Marriott furnishings. I had dinner ordered to my room saw a movie and had a perfect stay, that is for a business trip. It was more expensive than I usually pay, but I'm glad a did it.

We chose this facility mostly for its location. The room was decent for its money. Nothing special. The gym was excellent. The inept front desk staff was not very helpful, especially the night guy. It always felt like we had to squeeze everything out of them. On check-out day, they charged us for a suite, even though we were in a normal rooms. (240 vs 120) After working with the 2nd lady who actually knew how to do her job, we were able to get it straightened out. The location is decent, value is ok, but the Best Western across the street was a much better value.
