  Loved the motel, huge clean room and friendly staff. However, for a town that has such a great dog park (http://www.dogparkusa.com/texas/john-stiff-memorial-dog-park, Amarillo is NOT dog friendly. Search for 1 1/2 hours for a restaurant that would let us bring our dogs to eat on the patio with no luck. Found what looked like a great service, http://www.amarillodineindelivery.com/, but it closed at 8 PM. The motel is on the east side of town and it's hard to find delivery service out there.

• Very strong smoke smell in smoking room

  This was final stop on our last night out on a 14 day trip. We were in a king smoking room. Room 128. Yeah, I'm a smoker, but this room was horrible with smoke smell. I felt like I had my face in the ashes of our fireplace. Whew, Smelly!!! They need to work more on their deodorizer. We've stayed in many smoking rooms and never noticed the smell this bad. It hit us both immediately upon opening the door.
  The room was large, but the bed was very, very hard and horribly sunk in down the middle. The hair dryer had a night light which flickered. We finally unplugged it. There was a carpet seam right by the counter sink and it was all frayed. Time for some upgrades at this place! And, I hope they try and put a picture straight before screwing to the wall when they do. A little off, I understand. But one in the room was WAY off! About 2 inches lower on one side.
  Just added a final touch to the tacky feeling of the room.

  Stayed here on a road trip from Dallas to Northern New Mexico - it was clean, quiet (even though it's on I-40), an the breakfast was really free. We reserved a rollaway bed and it was already in our room when we arrived late in the evening. All in all, very satisfying for the price!"
