The front desk woman who checked me in was pleasant, but that is the only nice thing I have to say about this hotel. It's old, smells like cigarette smoke everywhere you go, even in the elevators. There is no on-site reataurant and the Penthouse lounge was depressing. The neighborhood is not safe, as well. Within 5 minutes of leaving the hotel to find something to eat for dinner, I was approached twice for money. And when I walked down to the River Walkway, two young men kept yelling at me to try to get my attention. I travel a lot, and lived in Brooklyn for almost 15 years, and if I hadn't pretended to be on my cell phone as I quickly walked to find other people to be around, I KNOW I would have been mugged. And this was all before the sun had even set!

We came in town for a wedding, so we did not spend alot of time in the room; but it was a nice room. We had a king bed, which was very comfortable. The overall look of the hotel could use some updating, but we had no problems with water, air, or service. Everyone was very accomodating and friendly. It was a little expensive for what it was (we stayed in a 4 star hotel in downtown DC for less), but thats probably because its peak wedding season. Its not located in the best part of Augusta, but if you stick to the main roads (Broad and Greene) you'll be okay.

I needed a place right in the 7th-street part of town near the river, and the Ramada was the right location. The desk clerks were accommodating and friendly. The room was fine. A beer at the bar on the roof was handy. Not many people around. Parking was convenient. Breakfast in BJ's on the main floor was fine. I didn't need dinner, but did note that BJ's wasn't open in the evening.

What a pleasant surprise I had staying at this downtown hotel. I was so pleased with the nice staff - everyone was so friendly and helpful. I had a beauftiful room with a great view of the lovely downtown area. The food was great - a real southern treat for lunch. The roof top lounge was a nice place to relax and meet with my business colleagues - it was a really nice stay with the kind of genuine kindness I haven't seen in a long time. I highly recommend this very nice property and will look forward to a return visit.
