My hotel options in Gainesville were limited because I decided relatively last-minute to take my 14-year-old daughter to a UF football game, and every hotel in town sells out on football weekends. However, based on other reviews, I decided to take a chance on the Super 8 - we just needed someplace to sleep. The place seemed fine when we checked, we were not expecting anything fancy (it's a Super 8, right?). We went off to the game and didn't return until about 11:00 pm. Within 5 minutes of our return, we saw FIVE cockroaches. I managed to trap two of them to show the girl from the front desk, who came up with a big bottle of boric acid roach killer. She could not move us (all rooms were full), could not refund our money, and "a manager was not available" to discuss refunding our money. My daughter was in tears and wanted to sleep in the car (cold and not safe), then tried to talk me into driving about 30 minutes to another town where we might be able to get a room. By this time it was after midnight and I was too exhausted to get on the highway. I asked the girl to leave the boric acid, which I spread all around the beds (of course, at one point I looked up to see a roach on my headboard). Every time I saw another one I had the dilemma of killing it and freaking my daughter out more, or ignoring it and hoping she wouldn't see it. She refused to sleep or even turn out the lights, which was fine with me. I had to sleep with a shirt over my head, and my daughter was exhausted the next day. STAY AWAY!!!

The best price we could find in the area but it is totally a budget motel. There was slim pickings on the continental breakfast served in a very small, crammed lobby area. The PC workstation was down over the weekend due to a password problem and no one knew how to fix it. The room was small. If none of these things are important to you, you will find this to be a clean & friendly place.

Asked for a Non Smoking Room and got smoking. They said there were no other options. Almost decided to go somewhere else and just lose my money. It was that bad. Price too much for the accommodations.

We were visiting the University of Florida and decided to stay at Super 8 Motel. It was a good choice, close to UF. Hotel had a nice clean rooms and it was nice to get free wireless internet.
