Although this hotel is a bit far from the tourist sites, it is located right off of I-8 and easy to find. The room was very comfortable even though the bed was a bit too firm for me. The airconditioning worked well if a little noisily. Unlike some hotels, if you left the A/C on while you were away, the staff didn't turn it off so you returned to a nice cool room. The room was clean and serviceable but nothing fancy. There was a continental breakfast each morning - pastries, cereal, toast, juice and coffee was available. There was an indoor mall on the other side of the interstate and lots of restaurants nearby to choose from. For the inexpensive price we paid, I thought it was a very good value. The only drawback other than the distance to tourist attractions is that the neighborhood is not great and the small swinning pool is not convenient to use (no privacy, shade in later hours or outdoor furniture - it did look clean, but that was from the parking lot - I didn't check closer)

This was not a bad hotel. We booked last minute (fewer than 24 hours) and got an OK rate and first choice of rooms for one of the last weekends of summer. Good location for San Diego tourists who want to save cash and don't care about frills in a hotel. We had no problem getting to Sea World, Coronado and Balboa Park in our 2 nights stay. The bed was not so comfy, but everything else was suitable. Breakfast fine. All we wanted was coffee, but there were several nice options and the lady in charge of keeping breakfast clean and stocked was diligent and friendly. The pool is a postage stamp on the side of the parking lot. Save your swimsuit and sunscreen for the beach.

I wanted to explore San Diego on a budget and staying at the Rodeway Inn of El Cajon really helped me do that. It's about a 20 minute drive from El Cajon to most points of interest (i.e. Sea World, the Zoo, downtown San Diego, and Coronado Island) and I never encountered bad traffic during my entire stay. The room was cleaned very well every day and the front desk staff was very helpful when I needed directions or suggestions on where to eat. Unfortunately, the wireless Internet did not work so well in my room, so I often had to walk to the lobby to get a signal or hook up to a cable. I never used the pool either--it looked clean, but it was small (the size of a large hot tub) and faced the intersection of Madison and Magnolia. Not the most glamorous location to sit around in a bathing suit. All in all, I got what I paid for: an inexpensive motel in a convenient location. If you're travelling on the a budget I definitely reccomend it.

We were extremely pleased with this motel. Location was awesome, right off the 8, hop and skip to SeaWorld and Coronado Island. Truly enjoyed the fridge, coffeemaker & daily paper. Really liked the curved shower curtain. Will definitely stay here again and highly recommend.
