very comfortable

Very clean hotel. Fitness center treadmills were great. They even had headphones for the individual TV's attached to each treadmill. The restaurant was open till 11:00 which was nice since we arrived late, but the bar area was too close to the restaurant and it was smokey. Plenty of parking and we felt safe. The hotel had a map, but didn't have any information available for local sighseeing.

When we arrived, we did not have the fridge we ordered and there was no fitted sheet or blankets for the fold-out couch my granddaughter was to sleep on; also one of the room keys did not work. Room service was a little slow to respond, but they did seem to be quite busy, and they were very friendly when they did show up. The hotel itself was lovely; Neutrogena bath products were a nice touch. Beds quite comfortable, and it is very hard for me to find a comfortable bed due to a number of health problems. Security was very tight; you need your key card to get into side doors or to use the elevators or pool. Also, security patrols constantly. This is a good thing, in my opinion. Grill 39 was excellent! Will definitely seek out Doubletree Hotels for future trips!

Easy on and off major highway. Great hotel for the price. Only bad thing was the hot tub was really small, only the size of about 2 bath tubs. Lots of restaurants close by.

Formerly the Holiday Inn Fairlane, I stayed here extensively from '94 to '01. After a few years break from Detroit I was disappointed not to find it online. Didn't know about the change of Ownership to DoubleTree. Good News! Still a solid home away from home. Clean, comfy, professional. You will recognize staff members from year to year - that speaks volumes... Excellent full breakfast buffet, or to order. Room service good for late night nachos & ice tea.
Only two disappointments: Previously the best water fountain in Detroit found in the lobby. Alas, no more - has been removed. Also, the lounge/bar/game room has been converted to meeting rooms. Pity, this was a classy amenity. Home to some fond memories. Excellent dining within few blocks by car. The Detroit mega-streets just aren't pedestrian friendly, even if you are brave enough to hoof it in the evenings. One exception, Chili's in the out lot, just down the sidewalk. Not for the heartburn prone. Instead, try the Big Fish in Towne Center.
