Nice older hotel. Very friendly help and quick room service for any problems. Don't recommend this hotel if you are sensitive to animal dander, etc., as they are a pet friendly hotel. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs, but if you are the least bit allergic, think twice! Our room smelled like a wet dog even though they came up and sprayed air freshner for us. The lighting is very bad for ladies to put on makeup and fix hair, etc. The sink in our bathroom was so high we (3 ladies), couldn't even wash our face without placing a towel on the edge of the counter because we would get wet since we couldn't reach the faucet! No light in the shower at all either, and no closet, just a cabinet to hang your clothes. Good location though to travel in all directions of Asheville, Black Mountain, etc. Close to Asheville Mall and the interstate.

When we arrived there was a group of men blocking the entrance with a big truck trying to move the hotel sign. They were smoking, lage stomaches hanging out of the bottom of shirts, and standing around with raod cones blocking the entrance. We had to call the hotel to have these people move so we could get to the hotel. Hopefully they have all that straightened out. This is a pet friendly hotel so beware if you have asthma or other breathing conditions. People had dogs and cats everywhere when we visited. When we arrived our room had a funny smell, it wasn't bad, just weird. After being out all day we returned to find these weird stains on the bed. I looked up and saw that the ceiling was leaking and the popcorn part was falling off. I called the front desk and they sent a man up to help move us to the room across the hall. They were very nice and apologized for this problem. They then said we were getting an upgraded room...yep, because it had a pool view. So, basically the same. The bed was ok, the sheets were comfy, and the pillows were good. However the upgraded room had a soap holder that was broken in the shower. The place was clean and quite other than the ceiling in the first room. Do not order the room service. It is a rip off. We paid $ for 2 pieces of toast, juice, eggs, and hashbrowns that were less than McDonalds quality.

This hotel was fantastic. The view from the hotel was great. The staff was wonderful. They were courteous and helpful from the moment we checked in to the moment we left. It is a small hotel. One elevator that is none to fast and a small "Bistro" but they work to this hotels advantage. Everything was clean and orderly. This was without a doubt the best Holiday Inn we have ever stayed in. Yes there were some minor cosmetic sheet rock work that needed to be done on the ceiling that need to be repaired. The air conditioner will need a little while to be able to catch up to cool the room. We did not think it was working very well when we arrived and were afraid that we would not be able to sleep. We turned it all the way down as cold as we could. When we woke up in the morning we had to play rock paper scissors to see who would have to get out from under the comforter to go turn the ac off. I only mention that so that anyone who might read my review not think I was not truly observant. The beds were comfortable, the rooms, hallways, elevators, and grounds were clean and well kept. The hotel is about a block from I-40. There is a gas station right by the hotel. If you leave the parking lot and take a right there are several places to eat and about four stop lights down there is a 24 hour Ingalls grocery store that is great. They have a Starbucks in the groccery store. The area around the Hotel is kind of quite. This is a place to rest not an area to party. Perfect. Highly recommened.
