...............if a little out of the way. You can't walk from there to any of the DC sights uless you're really into long distance walking. Very nice room, although a small refrigerator would have made it much more convenient. Polite staff that took care of a parking lot charge situation. None of our room keys would activate the garage gate at all, which was inconvenient. Breakfast, while generous portioned, was too expensive.

OK hotel. Expected more from a Doubletree. Good location. Check in was at 3. Notified them I was there at 12:00, tried to check in at 3 and house cleaning had not finished the room. Tried again at 4 still not finished. Tried again at 4:45 and still not finished. She spoke with a manager and they found a room. I must say though the woman I was speaking with was extremely courteous. Thermostat in room is located directly above the A/C, therefore ours was set on 55 degrees, and I would dare say the room temp was 75 the entire stay. Hotel did have a good selection of dining, and was clean. Pool was nice.

Recently stayed with extended family (16 of us) and I was a bit apprehensive after reading reviews, my fears were toitally groundless. the staff could not have been more accomodating- from the moment we arrived, we had only to request something and we were attended to immediately. The only shortcoming was the metro shuttle, which supposedly came every half hour ( other area hotels seemed to have shuttles no fewer than every 15 minutes, with some ebery 5 minutes). As a result, buses were often full due to number of people waiting at the metro station. However, on 2 occasions when this happened, I phoned the bell captain and requested an additional shuttle, as we were 16 ( nearly filling the shuttle to capacity) and on both occasions, an additional shuttle arrived within 10 minutes. On a separate occasion, there was a long line of people waiting at the hotel to go to the metro station, and when I pointed this out to the bell captain, he immediately arranged for another hotel staff member to transport my entire party to the metro station. Metro was only 3 blocks away, so I probably would have walked had it not been for number of children and seniors in our party. We had drinks upstairs in Skydome, staff was incredible attentive, when one of the children mentioned he had an upset stomach and the waitress overheard, she brought crackers, ginger ale, was extremely helpful-- this was on a Friday evening in June, and the place was full, yet we felt like the only people in the place. The view was spectacular. Concierge was extremely helpful at suggesting kid friendly places to eat/order in from. I would most definately recommend this hotel to any travelers, whether with family or on business. A+!

The staff was very helpful, and the buses to and from the Pentagon City mall and Metro station and Reagan National Airport made it convenient to get around. However, the air conditioning was not working on several of the floors in one of the towers; the temperature outside was in the 90s; and the hotel had a number of high school groups staying there. The group from our school actually changed hotels at 11 p.m. at night, since it was apparent the air conditioning was not going to be fixed any time soon. The next day, we heard another group of teens saying that they also had no air conditioning; when we inquired which floor they were on, we found out it was a different floor than the one our school group had been on. The next day we heard yet another group of teens complaining that there was no air conditioning on their floor. Our group made the right move by changing hotels the day they checked in. Just to clarify, we stayed at the same hotel as our school group, but we were not actually part of the formal group. Unfortunately, when the group changed hotels, we could not since our air was working; and we ended up with the inconvenience of being at two different hotels 15 minutes drive apart. I would not stay at this hotel again because of the chronic problem and the fact that the various school groups seemed to be expected to put up with the problem.

My husband, three grandsons, and I stayed there on April 10, 2009.on a long-awaited trip to Washington, D.C. The hotel is hard to find if you are driving. We were lost in Washington, D.C. traffic, and when we called the hotel, we were given incomprehensible directions by the hotel staff. We finally found the hotel and I reminded the front desk manager that I had booked a room with two double beds and a pull-out couch, as there were five of us. When we got to the room, there was no couch. I went back to ask to have our room changed and, although the women at the reception desk were apologetic and tried to explain to the manager which rooms had couches and which did not, he again assigned us a second room with no couch. When I had to return to the desk a third time, instead of apologizing for his incompetence, he showed me an arrogant attitude and a complete lack of caring. I must say that the women were again apologetic to me and offered me coupons. After a long and exhausting day, we went back to the room to settle in for the night. As we opened the pull-out couch, we couldn"t believe our eyes when we saw mouse droppings on the covers inside!! Exhausted and realizing the futility of complaint at this point, the boys and my husband tried to sleep in the beds and I sat up all night in a chair, unable to sleep. Of course, no one slept on that couch. We checked out of the hotel before dawn the next morning. To be fair, I want to mention some good points about the hotel. We had a delicious meal, impeccable service and a beautiful view in the revolving SkyDome Lounge.
