My daughter's school decided to have a field trip to DC and as former residents we suggested this hotel. From the moment we arived we had second thoughts. First, there never appeared to be more than one person at the desk. Secondly, upon check in, the door man did not help us with the luggage. He just stared at it and waited for the fathers to move the luggage. Thirdly and most importanlty: on at least two seperate occasions, housekeeping forgot to put towels in the bathroom. The first time, we noticed the night before and called downstairs and they were brought up. The second time, I called downstairs for over 1/2 an hour; to no avail. I finally went downstairs--in my pjs--and ran into an employee in the elevator. I told him what was going on and he radioed it in. Towels were brought up about ten minutes later. Totally unbelievable. We were late meeting the group and had to deal with dirty looks from the rest of the parents. The other major problem--notice I did not include minor ones--I had was with the valet. Let's just say they crashed the side of the car and never said anything to me. I did not realize it until Alamo pointed it out upon returning the vehicle. Finally, when we were checking out, the doorman gave us the keys to the car and waited until we put the luggage in. He then had the audacity to come over and ask how was our stay; evidently looking for a tip for having brought the car.

Wow, what a great stay, metro is less than a five minute walk from the front doors. This makes the location great for sightseeing. Watergate complex (just across main intersection) has a few resturants, a grocery store, and a pharmacy. Next to Watergate is the Kennedy center with nightly free concerts, art exibits, and a rooftop terrace level with great views of the city. Head north towards Washington circle and there are more good resturants and a great bar called McFaddens. Front desk was always friendly, and the bellman/valet was extremly helpful. The suite was a perfect fit for our family with two bedrooms on opposite sides of the living room for optimum privacy. The only downside to our whole stay was that the pool closes at 8PM which was way too early for our 12 year old, and the parking was pricey at $ a night. Overall an excellent experiance and we will be sure to stay here again.

This hotel had friendly, helpful staff that were happy to help with anything we needed. The room was clean, the beds were comfy, and the tv's worked good. The bathroom was a bit small but it was clean. Our room was quiet even though there were a lot of people in the hotel. The hotel is a couple blocks from the metro which was very convenient. We flew into Reagan National and were able to easily take the metro to the hotel in probably 20 minutes. We didn't find many places to eat really close by but we found some nice restaurants maybe 4-5 blocks from the hotel. We were able to walk comfortably to the National Mall for sightseeing but again, the metro is a wonderful system (clean, safe and easy to maneuver).
    I would recommend this hotel.

It is a converted older apartment building. So the rooms are big, most with kitchens & living rooms, though many have no view (you look out at the wall of another building). Different. It is in an odd location- next to a college campus but without many restaurants within walking distance. The elevators were painfully slow. The neighborhood appears safer than most in the DC area & the subway is a short walk. I'd recommend this if you want a kitchen or have a large group, otherwise look for something better. The cookies were nice.
