Our first impression of the room, this is large, same with the Bathroom, then realised we were in a Handicapped Room. This was no bother except they do not provide a plug fpr the Wash hand Basin for Handicapped Rooms, but this is not a big inconvience. The Staff in the Hotel were all helpful. The Reception area is a bit dull it could be made more welcoming. The Location is not bad, one Subway Station next door, 15 minutes walk to Boston Common and the Visitor Info Center. Same time to Downtown Crossing. Did not eat in the Hotel, for breakfast went to the Au Bon Pain in the Tuft Medical center, just across the road, good value. Plenty of Restaurants about 10 minutes walk away but one has to get in there by 6pm, they get filled up quickly. Would go back to Hotel but would like to know what a Standard Room is like.If you use the Boston Trolley Trip use Old Town Trolley Tours, there are a few different Tours, this is the best, more Tolleys and longer route.Unless you are a fan of Contemporary Art give the new Institute of Contemporary art a miss, just not worth it.The Fine arts Museum is very good.so is the JFK Library.

While reasonably convenient to Boston's 'Freedom Trail' and other historic sites, the Doubletree is located in what one might charitably call 'a transitional section of town'. It has no shops, restaurants, or attractive facilities of any sort within short distances, and it is not the type of locale where one would feel comfortable strolling around after dark. Taxi service is virtually non-existent unless one orders transportation through the concierge -- and even then, it is rather 'hit-and-miss'. Families with children, in particular, would find it difficult to entertain the kids, either within the hotel or in the immediate environs. The rooms are adequate, but far from top quality. Service is reasonably good, though elevator service leaves something to be desired. The hotel is reasonably clean, but rather shabby looking, with a lobby that is not terribly inviting. The Doubletree is priced in the upper tier of downtown Boston hotels, but the quality of the facility is far from upper tier. I would assign it two stars out of five, and that may be a little generous.

The hotel itself is very nice and most of the employees are very knowledgeable and friendly. We chose this hotel because it had a pool and a hot tub...bad decision. They don't really tell you that they are the Chinatown YMCA pool and hot tub. Every time we tried to go, it was overly crowded and the hot tub was never available. They say that one swimming lane is available for hotel guests, but good luck using it! The only night that the pool and hot tub were open to hotel guests only, they closed early. If you don't care about the pool or hot tub this is a great hotel and the T station (orange line) is right around the corner from the hotel. It's easy to access all of Boston. There are not a lot of restaurants nearby either, so plan to take the T if you are going to eat at more than two places while you're there.

We were looking for a not too expensive downtown hotel, the the Doubletree was a great find. The rate was very reasonable for a two room suite. The king size bed was very comfortable, the furnishings attractive, and it was a quiet but very convenient location. We liked that the bathroom had two doors so that it could be entered from both rooms for added privacy, since we were traveling with our 16 year old son. We were within a block or two of Chinatown and the theater district, so we had lots of restaurant options, and could walk to the Common and other Freedom Trail sites. We would definitely use this hotel again. The only negative was that our rooms didn't get made up until after 4pm on two of the days we were there, which was inconvenient if we wanted some downtime in the room in late afternoon.

My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our vacation stay in June. Location is excellent: only 100 yds to the Orange Line subway ""T"" stop and 2-3 blocks to Theater District and Chinatown restaurants. We could walk to Boston Common to start the tour for the Freedom Trail. We were allowed to check in at 11am and received warm chocolate chip cookies! Also talked the staff into giving us cookies one night at the end of a long day. Room was about average size, and moderately priced for Boston. The beds were very, very comfortable. There were however, a couple of downsides to this hotel: the concierge was only on duty from noon to 6 pm and not at all on one of the four days we were there; the hotel staff we mainly dealt with - front desk and male bartender - were not the most friendly, but were very efficient; and the two computers in the business center were constantly in use. Since the concierge was not available in the morning or evening when we were at the hotel making plans, it would have been nice to be able to use the computers to research some of our questions. I guess a lot of people had the same idea. Would definitely stay at this hotel again when visting Boston on vacation.
