My friends and I booked a suite, but when we arrived we were given two seperate tiny rooms. The receptionists was not even apologetic that we are not getting what we booked for. They have the most rude staff! No manager on-site. He was out for lunch everytime we look for him to address our issues. Maybe there was no manager at all! They have cockroaches(about 3-4 inches long) on the floor from the hallway to the room. It's really gross! When we told them about this, they said its normal.
The rooms are tiny and hot. No ventilation or anything. We felt that we were fooled by their advertisement. This hotel is beyond terrible. No human being should be allowed to stay here. It's a waste of our money but yes we still paid * per night for a filthy hotel and bad service. -
A real dimond in the ruff of town.

I enjoy staying here when every I'm in SF, have been since summer 2005. The big reason I search the web for non-chain Hotel is because I wanted to support the free thinking ideas in the market. This is not your grandparents hotel with daisy pattern sheets and curtains. Or snobs alley with a doorman, bell hop and a wine steward. The 1st. big plus is how each room has been turn in to a life size canvase for artist's artwork, this is so great. You have to go on their website ( Hotel Des Art's) to see the entire art gallery of rooms. 2nd. is the locate, there a Irish pub next door, a Starbucks is on corner, Market ST is a few blocks down and Chinatown gate is cross the street. This great for those that want to be car-free in San Francisco, like me. The service is good enough for me, (they don't tuck you in at night) the price is great (for those on a budget) and each room is really truly unqiue work of art. 3th. the Hotel use to be a bread factory at one time and revamping classic buildings to serve a new use is very healthy conmuities. I wish there were more places like this in the world.
