There are a few great things about this hotel. First, the location is awesome. It is only three blocks from the Cordeliers metro stop, and around the corner from Rue de la Republique, which is a major shopping area. The hotel itself looks nice on the outside -- one of the old French buildings, and the rooms are relatively large for European standards. That is about all the positives. The linens in the rooms are frayed and old. The hotel itself still has the lingering smell of smoke from the days before smoking was banned in French buildings. The worst is the customer service. I booked through Travelocity, and pre-payed for my hotel room. When I got there, not only did the hotel not have my reservation in the system, they acted like I was trying to pull a scam on them when I said it was pre-payed. I did not have a print-out of my confirmation from online trvel website , but I did have it in my Blackberry, which I showed to the front desk clerk. It had the confirmation number, etc. He still did not believe me, and instructed ME to call online travel website . I asked him if he would call, and he refused. So, I used my cell phone to call online travel website , and was on hold for 25 minutes before getting through. All-in-all, the international cell phone call was 40 MINUTES LONG. online travel website was able to fax over the information, but it took all day to resolve the issue, and as a result I spent my day in the lobby of the hotel instead of enjoying Lyon. So, I would not necessarily recommend this place. There are many other hotels in the area, and I would choose one of them.
