hey, it was a bit overpriced, but all in all i had a comfortable room. it was a thick, twin sized mattress and small room with a great view of russell square and the senate building. the hotel itself is gorgeous with the marble staircase. being an american, i was not used to having to pay for wi fi, so that was a disappointment. however, the location couldn't have been better with the tube station right around the corner, along with the atm machines, the british museum, and a cool pub called ""a friend at hand"" which was actually in my guidebook as a historical pub. i would recommend this hotel because i could jump on the tube or walk to anywhere i wanted to go and feel relaxed once i called it a day. i had no problems with the cleanliness of the room nor did i have any issues with the staff. in fact, they were fantastically polite and patient with me. for someone on their first tour of the beautiful city of london, i couldn't have found a better, more comfortable location.

A wonderful old building that has way too much deferred maintainence! Staff also tried to charge for the "complimentary" wine ($40!) before been proven right... Balcony door could not be closed and definately not be locked. A true safety risk. Mold in the shower and a musty smell to the room.

The staff was friendly but the bed in particular was extremely disappointing. It was small and lumpy and despite the high price had one sheet (a single fitted sheet) and a dirty duvet cover. When I complained I was brought another duvet, also dirty and was told that it was the last one left(I found hair all over it). The complimentary English breakfast was very satisfactory indeed, however, though the very high cost for internet access offset this satisfaction! The location and exterior appearance could not be better. Since the cleanliness of the bed was doubtful and the response halfhearted I would not stay here again.
