The GPS took us to the address, which was a restaurant/pub, the entrance to the hotel was on a cobblestone lane running along the back. The hotel was tired, could use a paint job and new carpet, but it was clean, the staff was wonderful, and it was centrally located, you could walk everywhere, and close to tourist center, where you can sign up for tours. The main shopping area, Braxton Street, was around the corner, very convenient. Lots of pubs in the neighborhood, and people in the pubs, and outside of them, late, but it wasn't bad. Lots of beer kegs being rolled around outside at 6AM, but was livable. I'd stay there again.

This hotel is hidden away and can't really be seen from Dame Street. Our GPS kept telling us we had past it! From the front it says, "Mercantile" which is the name of the restaurant associated with it (where you will eat the breakfast part of the bed and breakfast). From the back alley part behind Dame Street it is clearly marked. When we entered they had never heard of Travel online and so our confirmation number was meaningless. Luckily there was one vacant room. They sorted out the problem and found out that Travel online transfers to Ireland under another name (something like lastminutedeals). Once that was figured out later that evening all went well but they really wanted a piece of paper with a confirmation from someone other than Travel online until it was settled! The location is in the heart of the city by Christ Church, Trinity College, Iveigh Garden, etc. Short walk from the Guiness Factory. Housekeeping staff is very helpful and will give directions to locations in Dublin. Carvery at lunch serves generous portions. Restaurant section in Mercantile has internet wireless for those that stay in the hotel which was very nice - could have breakfast and then linger over the computer.

A fantastic location across the Street from the Temple Bar area. The rooms were spacious and clean, the front desk staff most helpful and friendly. The weekend local bar nightlife could be distracting for some as the open windows provide the only ventilation. Not the most modern accommodations but worked quite well for us. Only a block from the main tourist office, many great ethnic restaurants and pubs in the area, within a block of the tour bus stop, easy to hail a cab. Worth considering for a moderately priced European hotel with character. Limited electrical outlets in the room and bathroom.
