Had a great (but short) vacation in Jamaica in late February 2009. This hotel is the primary reason we had such a good time. Plush surroundings, great beach, wonderful rooms, attentive staff...lots of amenities...lots of extras. Can't wait to return!

Spent our 25th anniversary at Coyaba. Place is well fortified, immaculate, staff are overly accomodating, beach is pristine, and we'd recommend the place if you're not planning to leave it. Our issue was with the location. MoBay is a scary and intimidating place. Cab rides are minimun $40 round trip, and walking along the highway can be a frightnening ordeal. Drivers are crazy, no place to eat within miles (except for delicious Scotchies), and the resort's restaurants are quite pricy if you're not all-inclusive. We were astounded at the level of poverty outside the gates where you are constantly accosted by very pleasant folk selling souveniers.

My boyfriend and I just went there for vacation for 4 days. This was our second time back at Coyaba. The first time we went there was in 2004, and we always wanted to come back. This is such a great place to go if you really want to just get away and do nothing. Although the hotel was full this time, I really felt like we had the place to ourselves. The pool and beach were never overcrowded, and the people that stay there are usually quiet and respectful. In a nutshell, here are positives and negatives: Positives -close to the airport -beautiful beach and pool area -relaxing and quiet -tennis courts, basketball court, pool table area if you get bored on the beach -watersports available (kayaking, etc.) -small gym, but useable if you really want to work out -management is very responsive to needs -other hotels near by- ritz, etc if you want a change of scenery Areas of improvement: -mixed drinks had no alcohol and expensive- go for the wine -food is just "OK"- but the chicken was really good! -service in general at the 2 restaurants and 3 bars were unreliable- at times we got ignored but then if you forgot to sign your bill they would chase you down - it is on a busy road so you really can't leave the resort by foot and it is a bit scary if you do. stick to taking taxis One more thing about the climate- this is a positive thing for me but some people may not like it- it is often very windy on the beach- but on a hot day it feels great but can get a bit chilly at night. I love this place and will go back again- although this time we might BYOB! hope this was helpful!

We stayed at the Coyaba for 10 days in December 2007, before the Holiday season kicked in. The first room we were assigned was a ground floow pool-view room with ants running around all over and all the windows nailed shut. The french doors to the small porch could open but if we did so we would be inches away from the guests lounging at the pool as well as the construction worker that were upgrading the beach-side restaurant. So we asked for a room change and were given an awesome corner room in an upstairs floor with ocean views. It was like being in two different hotels. As other travelers noted, staff was friendly although not overly so and a couple of staff members were quite sullen when asked to help once i woke up with an eye swollen shut from a mosquito bite (they directed me to the hotel store, where i got some antihistamine). Breakfast was excellent, we go the acki and salt fish several times and loved it each time. One thing i'd like to note: our bartender was very nice BUT for the 7nights we visited the bar, no matter what cocktail we ordered he gave us the exact same thing each time! It became a running joke... The beach was nothing to write home about but we took a cab each day to Doctor's Cave and loved the water there. Truth be told, we are not the resort-type of travelers and would prefer a more lively less secluded scene like what we experienced in Negril at the Country Country, Coyaba's little sister hotel. In short, it was a lovely stay but we would not return.

This was our first trip to Jamaica, but it will most certainly not be our last. In fact, our experience at Coyaba ensured our return trip almost from the moment that we stepped into the beautifully tropical lobby, located just 10 minutes from the airport. The entire property is immaculately kept inside and out. The rooms are comfortable, clean and nicely appointed. The ever-smiling staff was always willing to accomodate any request, big or small. Besides the breath-taking beauty of Coyaba, the staff made this vacation utterly unforgettable and the best vacation of our lives. They have a small private beach that is kept clean and beautiful. The restaurants were also unbelievable! Their delectable offerings were quite simply heaven. Everything and everyone at Coyaba exceeded our expectations on every level. Go to Coyaba! You'll never want to leave and if you have to leave (like we did), then you're sure to return (like we will) as soon as possible.
