Avalon is a beautiful facility, surrounded by beautiful greenery. I rated the location as okay as it is not convenient to the city area. (Minimum taxi ride to downtown is $25) The rooms are beautiful. Several lights in the living area of our junior suite did not work, making the area very dim. A short power outage rendered the tv in our bedroom unusable. Maintenance was quick to assess the problem and replace the tv. Although there was an armoir for a tv in the living area, there was no tv. The bath tub did not drain properly. After a shower, we were left standing in ankle deep water. The morning we checked out, the water pressure was not sufficient for a shower. Then, the water was off completely for a while. Something leaked near the shower leaving a puddle behind the toilet. The appliances (microwave, coffeemaker, fridge) did work well.
While a beautiful facility, the management needs to pay more attention to maintenance, upkeep of the place and customer comfort and perception. Paying what we did and not having lights that worked in the room, bathtubs that don't drain and then having to pay an extra $10/day to have internet in the room makes this, in our opinion, not a very good value for the money.
The staff is very polite, pleasant and helpful. As is often the case, the worker bees are top notch, but the management needs more training. -

I only stayed at this hotel one day and one night. The hotel is very beautiful but needs maintenance. Fresh paint, etc. Room are very spacious. TV's did not work.Service at the restaurant was poor. Very far from downtown.
