I figured the title would allow readers to grasp the truth about this resort. My husband and 3 kids enjoyed all the areas of the resort starting with the movie night and having ice cream connected with the resort. The old lady in the ice cream shop was a delight. The value package really allows you to receive the best for your money. Driving six hours from Atlanta made us feel at home the first night with all the services connected to the resort. The other nights we would go to amusement park associated with the resort. The resort had many pools with different landscapes of the resort. We have booked for next year and planned on bringing other families. Thanks to everyone associated with the resort...

This place is all lies. I visited the beginning of August 2009 for about five days. The brochure really gives false hope. The room we got was very sandy and small. Sand all over the floors, water pressure in shower horrible, parking is a joke (very serious problem!), for cost it is not worth it. They have a water park that they force you to pay extra for. I wouldn't call it a water park. More like a large kiddie pool with a small lazy river. I got into an elevator that was so small we could hardly fit in and there was wiring hanging out of the wall. The hallways smelled and were dirty. The first morning we woke to pounding that seemed to come from right on the other side of our wall at 9 a.m. It continued non stop for about 30 minutes. They were installing new t.v.s and thankfully that was the only wake up call we got the rest of the vacation. The sliding patio door hung slightly off the tracks and we couldn't open it to see our ocean view. So couldn't use the balcony we had wanted. Also the patio door didn't lock. If that doesn't bother you a couple floors up great! But if its like that on the first floor i'd really be worried. They say they have a theater, but i never saw a show playing and the door remained locked. Its a worn down place. Dirty paint, broken doors, bad water pressure, etc. Instead of expanding and making even more buildings they should try upkeeping the ones they already have. If your looking for comfort this isn't the place. It was too costly and not worth the price!

no great shakes here. not terrible, but not first cabin either. good location on ocean blvd. the place is a large campus with buildings on the beach and across ocean blvd. the two nicest buildings are condos (ownership opportunities and pre sales for a dramatic redevelopment of the entire complex). the rest of the buildings are older and worn around the edges. if you stay here, manage your expectations for the price you are paying. we drove into town on a wednesday looking for a three night stay. our objective was to be on the beach at a place with plenty of activities for our 9 and 10 year old kids without breaking the bank. check in was at the office across the street - but we drove to our building and parked. i had to park in the deck across the stree twice - but i don't need to sleep with my car outside my door. the elevators are old (like the building), slow, and a bit grimy - but we spent no more than 22 seconds in them to get to our 8th floor ocean view room. the air was working. the floors are wood - which makes for easier cleaning. the toilet, sink, tub, tv, and the fridge worked fine the beds are doubles, not queens, and are not luxurious by any stretch - but we slept fine on them (bring your own feather pillows) the sheets did not stay tucked in well - but they were clean and changed every day. the room was a bit rough, but it was generally clean and had no bugs. the amusement/waterpark passes were a big bonus for our kids. a decent stay. i might try somewhere else (coral beach?) next time but would conside this place again.

I stayed at the Sea Mist for 3 nights with 3 other families and it was great! This was my first time staying here, but the other families had previous (great) experiences with this hotel. The rooms were nice, cozy and clean. Lots of pools (kiddie pools, jacuzzi, indoor/outdoor, you name it) to choose from that actually closed later than the hours posted, which was great after a long day of activities. The hotel staff was very pleasant and they provided a pack and play (playpen) so that I didn't have to worry about my infant sleeping in the bed and rolling off. You were able to take 2 steps and the beach was right there. My one and only issue was trying to find parking on a Saturday night, which means that the hotel was packed (in a good way)! But, there are options for parking, even if you have to park in another lot that might not be directly in front of your bldg. The hotel was located within reasonable distance to everything so that you didn't really have to move your car.

Many years ago my family of five traveled from Ohio to this hotel every year for family vacation. Staying there was the best times of our lives but unfortunatley when they expanded and expanded they sacrificed quality stays for people. The Sandy the Sea Turtle Club was a great thing for the kids and and the parents and the staff and owners were very accomodating to everyones needs. It is not what it used to be. Friends of ours went there on our recommendation and said it was very poor quality.. How sad, it was an ideal place on the beach and now that is lost to a huge waterpark that is unusable a great deal of the time. I wonder how the Swamp Fox is doing if it is still in business??? IT was another good place up the street. I live in Az now and often wish I could go back to Myrtle Beach... it holds alot of happy times for us...and it is sad that the quality of the hotel is a thing of the past.
