Only a short walk from the hauptbanhof, and right on a couple of tram (street car) lines, this inexpensive hotel was perfect for a place to crash in between doing work in the day or simply exploring the city. A great perk is that you get free 2nd class passage on any VRR trains in the Rheinbahn network. This means a short walk to the main train station (no more than 1/4 mile) gets you to Koln in about 40 minutes, with other nearby cities a free trip away. Additionally you can ride the trams to old town, Messe Dusseldorf... essentially all around the city. Only once did I resort to a cab and that was when sharing it with a new business associate. While traveling alone it was fine, if you're sharing the room with someone you're going to want to be very comfortable with them as it isn't the biggest room in town. The area between the train station and the hotel has some adult businesses, but seemed very tame - I think most people would consider the Las Vegas strip more dicey than this part of town. The day crew was very kind and helpful, but the night desk clerk was pompous and obviously didn't want to deal with anyone... but that's about the sum total of my complaints. Great value, good location - didn't expect a W hotel experience, but didn't have to pay for it either. I'd stay there again if only in town for a few nights and not looking for luxury.
