  My birthday fell two days into the trip and the staff must have noticed this from my passport (my husband didn't mention it) and they had two glasses and a bottle of champagne with a birthday greeting to me awaiting us in our room--lovely! The beds were rock hard and the room was very small, but other than that, everything was comfortable, attractive and stylish. When we arrived, the room was a bit hot and the a/c appeared not to work, but opening the windows cooled things down nicely. We stayed in a back room, away from the street, so it was quiet at night and yet it had a lovely view out onto old balconied buildings, filled with plants, flowers and charm. The hotel was the only one out 8 that we stayed in that offered lotion (a small, but important detail to me). They also had slippers and bathrobes, which was a nice touch. The location was awesome (right on the Gran Via in the heart of the old historic district) and the staff was amazing. I loved the two free computers with internet access that were available 24/7. The staff helped me print out train schedules for three different cities and were always very helpful in terms of directions and information. Their English was very good (much better than the hotels in Andalucia, in the south, for example). I would highly recommend this hotel for its great staff, atmosphere, location and value! I would definitely stay again.
