We really enjoyed our stay here! We got a room on the third floor with a good view of the ocean & towards the front of the building just as we requested. I used the computer in the business center(by office) to check my e-mail & the breakfast area had a waffle machine. We were never bothered by other people bringing their pets(as we did). All in all we would stay there again or at the other La Quinta up on the other end of the island! John P.

I & razzie ( min poodle 10lbs ) have found this an odd htl compared to the many I stay @ .. I stay in allot of pet friendly or not hotels ...I judge a htl not only on cleaniness, cost,but friendly or not .. the way I & raz are treated ... this hotel staff always falls short .. remember I see them allot . always the same before & after Ike .. same people ... So always wonder why I should return ,had several complains in the past including my last trip. This hotel has no consideration of a do not distrub sign on door .. so even though it keeps them away a little longer .. it never fails way before 11am they knock ,call .... why I am clueless, also if you do get to sleep late then leave for whatever that day . do not expect that after 11am you can have your room cleaned ... you will be lucky to get towels .praying for improvement...asap ... maybe this will be the year .. this is the year galveston has new pet friendly hotels without a charge .. galveston has added 3 . so far they are cheaper ..........we will see

Hotel did not flood during Hurricane IKE, so this was one of few hotels who opened quickly after IKE. There is some wear and tear but over all a good place to stay. Rooms are well insulated, most rooms have a partial view of the ocean. Large breakfast area, nice swimming pool and nice staff.

Not exactly a "beach view"

I am a loyal LQ customer, but my keys were not waiting for me when I arrived. The hotel was putting in new mattresses and my husband had to move a bunch to park in one of only 4 handicapped spots. We had to walk around the rejects all weekend. I paid extra for a beach view, but since the hotel rooms do not face the beach, you have to walk out on the balcony and turn to see the gulf, not exactly a "beach view," but rather a better view of the Holiday Inn pool next door. There was only one chair on the balcony and one chair in the whole room, so there wasn't much to relax. After being gone for 5 hours, we returned to find our room had been not been cleaned, no new towels, etc. The door did not lock properly, elevators take FOREVER, and the room smelled musty. We will find somewhere else to stay next time.
