  I searched high and low for a good hotel in Bordeaux. I was more than impressed with Hotel De La Presse. It's location is ideal-- situated on the pedestrian shopping mall at the corner of Porte Dijeaux and Rue Ste. Catherine. It's in the center of Bordeaux next to great shopping, dining, and 5 minutes from the waterfront and Grand Theatre. The staff is extremely helpful (usually fluent in French and English) and willing to provide suggestions and maps. While the accomodations are modest, for a 3 Star French Hotel, it's location and price can't be beat!
