We stayed one night at the Orchard Garden Hotel. It's a smallish hotel - ten stories or so - with about 8 rooms per floor. The staff was very friendly and helpful -check-in was quick and easy. The entire hotel was spotless and attractively decorated and furnished. Our room was small, but very tastefully furnished. Great bed and high thread count linens, flat screen television with DVD player. Large bathroom! Quiet hallways - we never heard a sound from the hallway or adjacent rooms. You can avoid the exorbitant valet parking charge at the hotel by parking across the street at the Stockton Street parking garage - $16.50 overnight instead of the $40 charged by the hotel. There is a Starbucks on the corner and the Cafe de la Presse across the street in the Hotel Triton - a wine bar also. The south end of Chinatown is right next to the hotel. It's a very convenient location for shopping and Union Square. There are a variety of excellent restaurants nearby - the venerable Masa's is right up the street and there was a very intriguing looking Irish pub down the block the other way. We did not try the restaurant in the hotel - it looked nice enough, but with all of the other opportunities in the neighborhood, we just didn't have time. Check out the roof garden - it's very cool and a great photo-op for out of town visitors. Highly recommended as a reasonably priced lodging property for business travelers, a honeymoon, romantic getaway, etc. The room that we had would be too small for a family with kids, unless you had a baby in a crib.

I can't recommend the Orchard Garden highly enough. The staff are incredibly friendly, the rooms are gorgeous (and very spacious for San Francisco) and the location is perfect. Everything is just very clean and calm and zen and quiet. The hotel is small, so you really feel like you're being taken care of -- no cookie-cutter chain feeling going on here -- and breakfast at Roots on the ground floor is delicious (and good value). I'd stay here again in a heartbeat -- an absolute gem in San Francisco!

This hotel was great! It is literally at the steps of Chinatown, but still close to the financial district as well as Union Square. The staff was attentive and the hotel was immaculate. The lobby and bar is small. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a newly built hotel, very well decorated and environment-friendly. Location is just great, as well as staff service and food (I specially recommend breakfast). Rooms are more spacious than what you can expect in San Francisco (in an average hotel) and again, good taste in decoration. Beds are extremely comfortable. In-room wifi works very well. I definitely would stay there again without a second thought.
