Room was very small. Not enough towels even though we booked for 3 adults. Not enough parking, 1/2 the spaces in proportion to the number of rooms. Musty smelling room with the boxspring full of rust that looked like blood! At 7:00 am when I went to get coffee or something to eat at the continental breakfast they offer the door was locked and I was told that the coffee wasn't ready. The gentleman at the front desk obtained my information on the reservation, then went into the back, another person came out and began helping another customer who came in after me. I advised her that I had been here first and I thought the gentleman went to obtain my information. She apologized and said that he hadn't mentioned I was there. Overall a bad experience, I would not stay there again.

This hotel was great for the price. I was worried that it was going to be in a scary neighborhood, due to the price, but it really wasn't that bad (not that I would wander around at night around there, but it was generally okay). There was a wonderful mexican place just a few blocks away (""Por Favor"")! The staff was nice, the rooms were clean, and we were glad there was free WiFi. The pool was the perfect temperature and was very clean. This is a great place to stay if you don't plan on spending most of your time in your room... but, why would you?!... San Diego is too beautiful to be sitting inside all day! :)

The location is about 20 minutes from downtown San Diego. If you don't feel like going downtown for a night, El Cajon is a small town with a few nice bars within walking distance. I recommend the Por Favor bar for Mexican food and drinks. The first room I stayed in was very dirty and smelled like smoke, even though it was a non-smoking room. I promptly went to the management the next morning and they were very willing to have me switch rooms. The next day I had a much larger, cleaner, room for no extra charge. The new room was satisfactory. The hotel lot has limited parking space and I found myself parking my expensive rental in the dark adjoining lot a few times. I had a safety concern at night, but I had no problems.
