We stayed in this hotel 2 adults 2 children and it is not located in the best part of town. After arriving we wanted showers and there were only two towels so we called the front desk who in return sent some strange guy to our door to say they are short of towels and to reuse them. After a discussion he then told us he would go to his personal room and bring two towels. The service was unfriendly and alot of characters hanging around. The continental breakfast wasnt even put out until 7:05am even though it is not posted anywhere. We arrived at 7:02 am had to ring a bell and a guy who looked as if he just crawled out of bed told us 7:05 am. Anyways overall it was bad and yes the T.V. had to reprogram everytime you turned it on. Could not get the room the right temp it was either to hot or to cold and there was know way I was opening the window with the characters hanging around and the freeway 10 ft away. The funny thing is I stayed here because I read the reviews and alot of them were really good compared to other hotels, but I'm thinking we would of been better off anywhere else. I hope this helps anyone who is thinking about staying here especially familys.

I got one of the rooms with two double beds - for one person. I didn't bother seeing if I could switch to a room with a king. But, the two doubles sure take up a lot of room. Bed was comfortable at least. There was a desk in the alcove beyond the beds, and the wireless internet connection worked fine. Couldn't see the TV from a chair, only from a bed. Nice flat screen TV, but it wasn't programmed for available channels, and no guide in the room on which channels were what. Artwork missing from walls -- not sure if the owners removed, or if had been stolen by a prior occupant -- but the hangers were still on the walls. I'm not usually crazy about motel art anyway, but that looked kind of odd. The ""continental breakfast"" is a rack in the office where they put out a couple of bananas and apples, and prepackaged muffins. So, if you are just looking for a comfortable bed, and want something one step above the Motel 6 or Travellodge, this would be it. But don't go with high expectations. The pictures on their website make it look a lot nicer than it really is.

There is no pool. The location is right off of the freeway. Work is being constructed on freeway during the week. The queen size beds are not queen size they are double. I don't know if they have King size beds. No security. No room service. The free continental breakfast was store bought wrapped foods. Once you check in, you are obligated to your stay - no changes will be made. There are little fridges in the rooms and a microwave - not mentioned on the website. The new HD Television sets did not work and the staff could not help you retain the channels. Everytime you turn off the tv you lose the cable programming and the television needs to be re-programmed. No guide to tv channels. No Internet connection. The people who cleaned the rooms brought there children to work for them and they just walked right in our room. No privacy/do not disturb door hangers. Instead of calling of just leaving us alone, everyday @ 10:00a.m. a knock on the door - 'do you want your room cleaned'? Asked for additional towels/pillows - limited stock on hand. Not a place for children. Staff was okay - somewhat helpful and knowledgeable about location of where to go for things to do but not helpful on locations of restaurants.

I have now stayed here for a total of 4 weeks (leaving Saturday to return Tuesday) and have appreciated it every time! The staff is extremely friendly and accomodating. I am in the process of relocating to San Rafael from Reno, NV for work. I travel every week and have stayed at most of the hotels in San Rafael/Marin County. I request North Bay Inn as it has a refrig, freezer and microwave. I always request the same room and always, so far, have gotten my preference. It is quiet and, once you close the door, feels like you are not in the middle of it all, especially since it is very centrally located. I worked in the hotel/casino industry for years and can definately say this is a clean, quiet place. I couldn't ask for better on short term stays!
